Child and adolescent health and wellbeing

There’s a world of difference between adults and children. It’s not just size – children’s bodies and minds are continuously developing.

Just take their bones. At birth, your baby has about 300 bones. As they grow, some bones fuse together so that, by adulthood, they have only about 205 bones.

Some health conditions affect children more than adults or affect them differently. Musculoskeletal conditions like Sever’s disease are particularly common during growth spurts when bones, muscles, tendons, and other structures are changing rapidly (and not always at the same rate).

Many children and adolescents also face mental health difficulties. Some were struggling before the pandemic with many more struggling now. We’re keen to support children and young people to manage their mental health well.

If you have any concerns about your child’s health, wellbeing or development, please book an appointment. We’d love to help you.
